The Gift of An Idea

If we slowed down just one step, what would we see?

We’d like to share an idea with you instead of a story in this month of giving.

It’s an idea that’s at the heart of what we do everyday here at BeanZ & Co. We like to think of it as a gift from BeanZ & Co. to you.

Yes, it’s the gift of an idea.

There is a lot of messaging these days about slowing down. For the most part, we believe the sentiments are true. If we rush through life, we’ll miss the stuff and the people and the times that matter most. And still there is also the truth, especially at this time of year, that slowing down can be tough to do.

But what if we slowed down, just one step?

What would we see?

We hope we will see one another—really see one another. Not just blindly passing each other in the office, in the parking lot, or in the mall as we hustle from one thing to another. Immersed in our agendas, or focused on our phones. We hope we might slow down, just one step—long enough to catch the glance of another person. To look them eye to eye instead of past them.

To smile, to say hello, to make them feel appreciated—and seen.

Perhaps connecting eye to eye with another (and every time after this time), we will see new things. Perhaps it will open our hearts to see that as individuals, each of us is flawed, and each of us is incredibly gifted. Perhaps we will see that we each have dreams and potential, the desire to live with purpose, and the desire to be loved.

When we slow down, just one step—long enough to connect with the eyes of another, we hope it will open our hearts to see what perhaps we didn’t see before.

And that is the value and the dignity of each one. #everyonebelongs
